Couponers use their own language to describe shopping deals, matchups and shopping scenarios on blogs and forums. It can be very confusing to beginners. To help you understand this new "Lingo", here's a list of the most commonly used acronyms, abbreviations and terms and a brief description.
BLINKIES = In-store coupons near product, usually from a blinking box
BOGO or B1G1 = Buy One, Get One Free
BTFE = Box Tops For Education
CAT or CATALINA = Coupon that prints at the register after purchase
CRT = Cash register tape, coupon that prints in store on your receipt
DND = Do Not Double
DOUBLE COUPON = Coupon that a grocery store doubles in value (usually NO Double in FL)
ECB = CVS Extra Care Bucks earned for purchases, used like cash @ CVS w/some exclusions
EXP = Expiration date, last day you are able to use the coupon
FAR = Free After Rebate
Filler = Item(s) you buy in order to get your total up to a certain amount or additional item(s) you purchase in order to stack coupons @ WAGS
FREE ITEM COUPON = A coupon that allows you to get the product completely free
GC = Gift Card
GM = General Mills coupon insert found in the Sunday newspaper
IVC = Walgreen’s Instant Value Coupon monthly EasySaver booklet found near weekly sales ad
IP = Internet Printable Coupon
K = Kellogg's coupon insert found in the Sunday newspaper
MFG = Manufacturer
MQ = Manufacturer’s Coupon
MIR = Mail In Rebate
MM = Money Maker (earning money from making a purchase!!!)
NED = No Expiration Date
OOP = Out of Pocket, how much "real" money you will need to spend
OOS = Out of Stock
OYNO = On Your Next Order
P&G = Proctor & Gamble Coupon Insert found in the Sunday newspaper
PEELIE = Coupon that you peel off the package
PepsiCo = Moments To Save insert found in the Sunday newspaper
PSA = Prices Starting At
Q = Coupon
Regional = A coupon or deal available only in a specific region/area
Rolling = expiration date is "rolling" 30 days from the date you print your coupon
RP = Red Plum Coupon Insert found in the Sunday newspaper
RR = Register Rewards (Walgreen's Reward Program, prints as a Catalina)
SS = Smart Source coupon insert found in the Sunday newspaper
STACKING = Using a Manufactuer's coupon & a Store coupon together on the same item
TEARPAD = A pad of coupons found hanging from a store shelf or display
UPC = Universal Product Code
WAGS = Walgreen's
WSL = While Supplies Last
Winetag = coupon hanging on a bottle of wine/alcoholic beverage
WYB = When You Buy
YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary (may vary from store to store)
